The plot started out a little slow. Gradually getting better.
Parts of it seemed overly unrealistic. I can jump fantasy quickly but some of it seemed a stretch for me.
He adds extremely detailed descriptions which work out really great. I've never realized how much the quick pace of the end of a book usually gets there by sacrificing details, Pullman definitely didn't.
The very end was a poorly built bridge between compass and the next one. I didn't like that.
I'm aware that he's an athiest and was told this series was basically a rebuttle to the whole Paradise Lost concept by Milton. It shows, if you look at it that way. I'm going to be very interested to see how much of that aspect is displayed on screen. I think it was considered "adult fiction" (maybe??) And to what extent he'll take his views in the next of the series.
The characters are very well rounded. Good plot set up and climax and all that. Chapters have titles... I LOVE that.
Lol. sorry, I jump around a bit. But yeah... without spoilers, that's how I think of it..
