About
What is Project Sidewalk?
It’s a place for me to share my own view of the world. Somewhere for me to share the things I make. Somewhere to share the things I find interesting. An attempt for me to find the magic in both the exquisite and the mundane.
It’s also a space for you to create things with others. A canvas for the imagination.
It’s a community of writers, artists, and thinkers working together to create new ways to experience storytelling, art, and entertainment.
Everyone has an immense potential to be creative, but these talents often go unused. Why? Because raw creativity can be a scary thing. It requires letting go of certainties, conquering fears of failure and, most importantly, the actual act of creation.
In a culture where media and advertising are meant to turn us into the perfect consumer (i.e. bored, dissatisfied, and ugly), Project Sidewalk seeks to create an online and offline universe where being imaginative, happy, and beautiful is a revolutionary act. There is a chance to become something more than just the viewer. Here you can reclaim public space, reignite imagination, and recontextualize the way we see and interact with our world.
Why does such a place need to exist? Because it’s fun to be creative. Because it’d be fun to stop buying things and start making things. Because we need to play.
Creativity in a community setting allows us to not only reach out and touch someone, but to find each other.
Who Are You?
Hi, I’m me.
I’m sure most of us remember the question “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I’ve always hated it. Ever since the days of juice boxes and required naps, we’ve been told that we need to decide “what we want to be.” I’ve never wanted to be just one thing. I don’t think anyone has to. I’ve also encountered this with many of my peers. I always hear about what they’re doing, and what they want to be doing. The problem is that the two never seem to match.
“I’d like to be an artist, but I can’t make anything creative.”
“I’d like to write a book someday, but I can’t write.”
“I’d like to have more adventure, but I can’t find the time.”
Yes we can.
I don’t want to be one thing. I want to be an artist. A writer. A film maker. A traveler. A photographer. A collaborator. A teacher. A student.
There’s no reason to feel trapped in any one area. Find what you want want to do, and do it. That’s been my philosophy so far, and it seems to be working.
I’m going to make something, anything, at least once a day.
Pictures. Movies. Writing. As long as it involves making something. I’ll do my best to post things as I make them over on the blog.
I’d like to encourage you to do the same, and tell me about it. Send me an email and we’ll talk. Show me things you’ve made, things you’re planning on making, or like I mentioned earlier, email me just tell me how the weather is.
Admit it, you know you’re pretty awesome, right? I’d love to be able to talk to you a bit. People absolutely fascinate me.
Everyone has a story.
I also enjoy the small details that make all of us who we are. I love when pay phones ring but no one is around. I love that feeling after waking up naturally when you’re on the whimsical boundary between being awake and asleep. The smell of old books. I could go on forever, but we’ll save that for when we talk.
Tell me your story. I want to know what moves you, what angers you, what inspires passion into your life. Or just drop an email to say “Hey.”
Either way, let’s talk.

Hi Me,
I’m Dezana. I like your page so far. I just stumbled on the rejected valentines, (liked them), was intrigued by the drink page (I might by you one some day) and then found this. I invite you to view some of my artwork. I don’t have any of my new stuff posted yet but there is some good stuff at my cosmicflux2.blogspot page.
I’m going to peruse your categories now and maybe we can talk after we both see more of each others work.
Nice to meet you ~Dezana

Wow, I read this and got chills. I feel like it was something I wrote. Looking through your page, I realized we have the exact same view on life, and both have “Projects”. I made a group that I called “Project Rain” where we do things to make people smile. Maybe we could compare ideas sometime?
